With five kids (four of whom are hyperactive, adrenaline-charged boys), my husband and I hardly ever get the chance to go out by ourselves without at least one little monkey tagging along with us. However, yesterday, my mother-in-law was in such a great mood that she openly volunteered to babysit ALL the kids at our house. I guess she had been too excited over her trip to Wisconsin today to consider the consequences of her decision. Regardless of the reason, we naturally jumped at the opportunity. Besides, we had been wanting to see the movie 2012 for a while anyway.
We arrived at the movie theater to find the movie room jam-packed despite the fact that 2012 had already been out for a few weeks. This PG-13 movie’s main stars include John Cusack, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Amanda Peet. It was another “Noah’s Ark” type movie about the cataclysmic destruction of the world due to solar flares that eventually lead to a worldwide flood. Of course, just like the biblical story, arks were built to save as many people and animals as possible. However, only the rich were secretly offered opportunities to buy boarding passes onto these giant ships. John Cusack starred as, Jackson, a divorced, struggling writer and limousine driver who learned about this hidden scheme from a conspiracy theorist (Woody Harrelson) while camping with his kids in Yellowstone National Park. Once Jackson discovered from his rich employer (who has paid $5 billion for his family’s boarding passes) that the conspiracy was indeed true, he took his family on a dangerous and heart-riveting journey to China where the arks were stored. The movie provoked philosophical and ethical questions about humanity while pulling at our emotions as we watched everyday people struggle to survive or carry-out their last wishes. I, being the emotional kind, bawled throughout the whole movie along with other tender-feeling types in the theater.
When we arrived home, I hugged each of my five little monkeys tightly and didn’t even mind the bits of paper scattered all over the floor from the project they had been making nor the fact that they were still up past 10:00 p.m. Instead I kissed each one tenderly on the forehead as I listened inattentively to my mother-in-law gripe about how they jumped around and played hide-’n'-go-seek like wild baboons in the jungle.

Sounds like you had a great time out and I’m glad you did
My husband wants to watch this movie too, but I’m not really into action movies in general, let alone movies telling me that in about two year the world, and therefore my life, will end.
I can imagine you hugging your kids extra tight!
Wow, I’m so out of it, I didn’t even realize the movie was out yet. I’ll definitely have to go check it out.
The movie was pretty good. There’s action, drama, and he whole works. I couldn’t stop crying though. Let me know what you think of the movie.
I’ll have to check out this movie. The last movie we saw was The Blind Side. It was wonderful.
It was a pretty good movie. Blind Side is another movie I’ve been wanting to see. I have heard lots of good reviews from friends about it.
Sounds good – maybe next date night! we saw Blind Side on Sat! So good!
thnx 4 the follow!
I’ve heard lots of good things about the Blind Side too. Will have to go see it myself.
If it made you cry I would have waterworks happening. Lighter topics are generally best for me!

Thanks for the follow Claire. By the way, I think you have a very neat concept on your website!
I’m so glad you got to see this movie before 2012 arrives
! Mother-in-law deserves some cookies for sure.
Swati
Thanks Swati! Definitely right on that one; anyone brave enough to watch any of my kids deserves more than just cookies
Sounds like a fun night for everyone! I was happy to hear more about the movie, cuz I wasn’t sure if it was good or not. Now, I definitely want to see it. And now, I just need to find a babysitter. Do you think your mother-in-law would be available? Hehehe…
LOL! Not sure how she’d feel after last Friday’s day of babysitting. She was about to tear her hair out. I don’t think she’ll be babysitting for a while.
Soungs like you had a great time. I have three kids, so we don’t go out much either.
